Anthony Diiorio is a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, community organizer, and thought leader in the field of digital currencies, blockchain and decentralized technologies.
He is the founder and CEO of Decentral, Canada’s largest blockchain company and makers of Jaxx, the multi-asset cryptocurrency wallet with over 400,000 users worldwide. Anthony and his team provide expertise to enterprises, small businesses and start-ups on the rapidly changing, disruptive space of digital currencies and blockchain technologies.
Anthony co-founded Ethereum, a platform that enables developers to build decentralized applications using blockchain technology. Ethereum, one of the largest crowdfunded projects of all time, has captured the attention of Microsoft and was incorporated in their cloud computing platform and services. Others such as Samsung and IBM are also developing prototypes based on Ethereum. Anthony also organizes the Toronto Ethereum Meetup group and founded Ethereum Canada.
Since 2012, Anthony has been a key player in community building for both the Canadian and global decentralized technology scene. He installed Toronto’s first Bitcoin ATM and operates one of Canada’s most active and well known machines in Canada. In the coming months he plans to expand his network of Bitcoin ATMs across the Toronto area in order to increase accessibility for those looking to buy and sell Bitcoin.
Anthony has hosted over one hundred events, including the first Canadian Bitcoin Expo in 2014. He continues to educate the community through DEC_TECH, an event series about decentralized technologies hosted at MaRS Discovery District, one of the world’s largest urban innovation hubs.
He founded and was the first Executive Director of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada, a non-profit whose mission is to raise bitcoin awareness among Canadian consumers, merchants, and policy makers. He is also a member of the Bitcoin Speakers Bureau at the Bitcoin Foundation.
An in-demand speaker at prominent global events, in 2015, Anthony became a lecturer for the Principles of Innovation course at the University of Nicosia’s Master’s program in Digital Currency. He is also an Influencer for Deloitte’s Exponentials.xyz, where he educates thought leaders in harnessing the potential of disruptive technologies.
In 2016, the TMX Group/Toronto Stock Exchange appointed Anthony as the Chief Digital Officer. He stepped down after an 8-month tenure in order to shift his focus on his rapidly growing company, Decentral.
